What is the opportunity?

This is a national office role providing support and consultation to senior estate and trust managers and their teams to develop and enhance skills, knowledge and effectiveness around the administration of estate, POA and trust files, behaviors, and outcomes. This role is a key support to the National Head, Sales-Client Experience and Regional Vice Presidents (RVPs) in maximizing performance across key business performance measures (market contribution, client experience, employee engagement, risk management) and responsible for developing and executing national strategies that ensures RBC Royal Trust (RT) maintains a growth trajectory without compromising rigor, discipline and thoughtful fiduciary considerations in the estate and trust book for the regions. This role works closely with the Director of Risk and Regulatory initiatives, RT Professional Practice Group (PPG) as well as RT’s Client Experience and Professional Development teams. There are three regional accountabilities (Toronto- London- Hamilton).

What will you do?

  • Drive to unlock growth and develop a compliant book of accounts for the region under your accountability. ( London Hamilton and Toronto )
  • Engage with Senior Leaders to impact and influence risk management strategies and advise Regional Vice Presidents on decisions such as business acceptance for new client acquisitions and pricing.
  • Maintain effective and timely routines with regards to Operational Risk, Risk Management and Compliance including but not limited to the following;
    • review, understand and action risk and operational issues in a timely manner,
    • maintain Regional Dashboard oversight and ensure corrective actions are followed through,
    • understand and manage strategic, reputational, operational, and regulatory compliance risk and maintain strong risk conduct by fostering risk awareness, setting a balanced risk tone,
    • develop and lead the integration and application of the risk management behaviors required to run a compliant and profitable business,
    • evaluate continuously the impact and implications that the risk appetite will have on the business strategies and will have on client experience,
    • lead in developing opportunities and practical models that provide client value while balancing risk,
    • drive continuous improvement of RT’s tools, processes, policies, and procedures – as it relates to Risk Management,
    • collaborate across WMC, P & CB and RT to define, steer and monitor RBC’s Risk appetite and,
    • strive continually for the optimal balance of efforts between driving Client Experience, risk appetite, growth and delivering shareholder value.

  • Work to create a Client Centric (client experience) delivery model for the estate and trust businesses and develop a deep and continued understanding of the business and the critical levers that drive success and sustain the strategy for long-term growth.
  • Provide technical coaching/mentoring of the managers and Senior Managers within the applicable regions. Coach Regional Management team to: KRIs, KPIs, dashboard, pricing of new and existing business, collection of fees while maintaining a balance of results, client profitability and relationship building. Provide thought leadership in supporting and challenging the organization to enhance RT’s key business objectives.
  • Use technology to build corporate memory and enable continuity of client service by documenting details of client interactions through appropriate systems. (Example: Salesforce; Client Source)

What do you need to succeed?              

Must have:

  • A strategic business analytics and client experience professional with 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in customer insights, analytics, client experience and client delivery models.
  • Strong critical thinking; demonstrated ability to analyze and draw meaningful conclusions and recommendations; balances the art and science.
  • Strategic agility; can anticipate future consequences, has broad knowledge in both estates and trusts and excellent perspective.
  • An experienced leader and facilitator who can effectively bring together internal stakeholders in a way that will result in innovative new ideas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; confident, credible and personable; can translate technical information effectively into business terms.
  • Good judgment to determine which solutions will work and how they will work; knows how to make the appropriate fact-based business case; not afraid to take calculated risks.
  • Well-developed influencing skills; able to demonstrate understanding and empathy while winning people over to a new way of seeing things.
  • Excellent change management abilities; the ability to drive for results tempered with an appreciation for organizational structures, processes and history.
  • A big-picture perspective - the ability to integrate; to see how all the pieces fit together and contribute to the achievement of broader organizational objectives.
