Job Function:

Plan, train and develop, carry out work and supervise staff involved with performing building and site maintenance and inspections at various Hydro One locations and facilities for the purposes of Wildlife Abatement and control. Ensure staff are performing their duties safely and are organized efficiently and the proper tools, vehicles, and
equipment are available and maintained in good order.

 

General Responsibilies:

  • Visual inspections of a variety of equipment and buildings at Hydro One Stations, Service Centers and facilities.

  • Dismantle, assemble and remove equipment.

  • Erect and maintain various barriers for Wildlife Abatement.

  • Working aloft for the installation and maintenance of Wildlife Abatement equipment/devices.

  • Appropriate disposal of debris (including animal waste) from work locations related to Wildlife Abatement requirements.

  • Troubleshoots, cleans, repairs and maintains sites and buildings at Hydro One Stations, Service Centers and facilities for the purposes of Wildlife Abatement.

  • Troubleshoots, installs, repairs and maintains all types of fencing (temporary and permanent) for the purposes of Wildlife Abatement.

  • Provide input and review training material on behalf of the Wildlife Abatement Team.

  • Train and develop staff and monitor for safety production and quality.

  • Repairs site and building envelope for Wildlife Abatement purposes.

  • Inspect and provide feedback for on-going project sites to ensure animal abatement guidelines are adhered to

  • Create reports and communicate Wildlife Abatement improvements.

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Grade 12 or Equivalent

  • Must have in depth knowledge of Hydro One Wildlife Abatement practices and procedures.

  • Detailed knowledge of Wildlife Abatement cleanup procedures. Must be qualified/qualifiable in UWPC.

  • Must have demonstrated leadership ability with a high standard of safety and applied knowledge of Job Planning through experience in a supervisory position on prolonged step-up.

  • Must have clerical/technical, trade, and customer relations skills as necessary for the completion of requirements of this job classification.

  • Must be capable of performing safety sensitive work and working in energized environments (ie.Transmission & Distribution Stations). Must be qualified/qualifiable in UWPC.
