THE ROLE:

The Manager on Duty position is generally responsible for effectively offering support to the Rooms Department, under the leadership and guidance of the Director of Room Operations. Managing and overseeing all aspects of the hotel Operation including: guest relations, front desk, sales, housekeeping, maintenance, product quality, accounting, team building and staff development for the interest and benefit of key stakeholders, guests, staff and management.

ACTIVITIES:

The duties and responsibilities for the Manager on Duty include, but are not limited to the following:

Lead and manage Front Office Operations Ensure service standards are met and exceeded i.e., anticipate guests’ needs, address guests’ concerns, etc. Ensure all guest issues/complaints receive prompt action and follow up and are communicated effectively to all relevant areas Train, support, and coach staff to foster a productive and efficient team Oversee day-to-day operations, liaise with key departments (Housekeeping, Guest Services, Reservations and Sales) to ensure smooth arrival and departure Ensure proper maintenance of hotel facilities for safety, operations, appearance, and compliance with brand and legislative standards Ensure all systems and controls are in place to produce accurate reports for management and ownership when required Report and follow procedures for workplace injuries and accidents; instruct staff on safe working practices and enforce health and safety regulations Increase market share by understanding the hotel’s position relative to local competition and implementing plans to maximize sales Achieve financial objectives through upselling and other strategies Manage purchasing, inventory, and other controls Implement and uphold company policies and procedures Act as a representative of the management team to guests, employees, and the community Perform other duties as assigned by the senior management team

COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:

Minimum three years of hotel experience, with at least one year in a supervisory role within the front office team In-depth knowledge of front office procedures Proficiency with Opera system Flexibility in hours, days off, assignments, and additional duties Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Diploma/degree in hotel management is an asset Must be able to work a variety of working shifts including Evenings, weekends and holidays. Valid provincial driver’s license.
