We are seeking: CHILD & YOUTH WORKER (CYW)

Job Description:

Child and Youth Workers serve a variety of functions and interact with a range of people across the school. Their role supports the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization and at all times, aligns with the role of the Principals of the School to whom they report. Working collaboratively with the Principal as well as the school’s leadership team, their role is integral to the smooth and successful operation of the school.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide support to students regarding personal and school related issues. Consult with teachers, administration and other school staff to help develop an understanding of student behaviours that are presenting problems within the school and to help develop strategies to manage those behaviours. Document and maintain records of supports given to students and liaise with parents as necessary Share information regarding topics such as cyberbullying, developmental issues, practice research, etc. in small group and workshop settings to both staff and students Daily observations of student success and development Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety and well-being of children Proactive intervention to promote pro social behaviours during recesses Contribute to relevant programming, events, and culture of the school

Qualifications:

University Degree or College Diploma in Child and Youth Care or equivalent Experience working in a school setting Valid First Aid/CPR certification Vulnerable Sector Check
