Gentle Family Youth Services Inc. is a certified staffing support agency providing highly skilled and experienced associates who specialize in one-to-one support services and respite care for children and youth with special needs and exceptionalities. Our mission is to extend a helping hand to families and organizations who are seeking quality support for themselves, various clients, and agencies that are experiencing staffing challenges.

Gentle Family Youth Services Inc. works with children and youth with special needs and exceptionalities to enable them to grow as individuals to contribute to as members of the community. This is achieved by building trusting relationships, by providing customized support, and by offering dynamic programming to meet the ever-changing needs of families.
- **A Child and Youth Worker**_ is responsible for maintaining and promoting the well-being, safety, and independence of each client. This may include providing physical care, one-on-one support and supervision, meal preparation, medication administration, and documentation. They promote a big brother / big sister relationship and encourage their clients to develop individual skills, talents, and abilities while maintaining their health and safety requirements.

We are seeking professional and certified individuals who are highly qualified in supporting children and youth with behavioral challenges, mental health exceptionalities, special needs, and who may be experiencing the following but not limited to the following symptoms/diagnosis:

- Autism Spectrum
- Asperger's Syndrome
- ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)
- FASD (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder)
- ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder)
- Behavioral Disorder (Aggressive Violent/Withdrawn)
- Anxiety Disorder
- Poor Emotional Skills or Self-Esteem (Trauma/Neglect)
- Learning disabilities or impairments
- Poor social skills
- Delayed
- And more

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensures a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for clients and provides one-on-one support to clients in a variety of different settings including foster homes, family homes, day programs, hospitals, group homes, and community support programs.
- Supports clients to function more independently in homes, workplaces, and communities. Provides support with daily life skills, social skills and /or behaviour management. Teaches and assists clients with activities such as hygiene, basic cooking, money management, shopping, and safety skills.
- Facilitates physical, recreational, educational, social, and vocational activities, and maintains liaison with other agencies, professionals, government officials and the community. Accompanies and/or transports individuals to activities such as appointments, shopping, school, employment, or leisure activities.
- Ensures health and safety standards are maintained.
- Attends to the physical, emotional, and medical needs of the clients.
- Promotes behavioural change and personal growth of clients who are having difficulties coping because of social, emotional, physical, or cognitive delays.
- Assists with the designs, implements, and evaluates client-centered Case Management plans.
- Supports and assists co-workers through the sharing of program activities and daily responsibilities.
- Maintains accurate and current file records on all clients.
- Consults with social workers, other professionals, and family when appropriate.
- Adheres to Gentle Family’s policies and procedures and meets all legal, contractual, financial, and other compliance requirements.
- Participates and contribute to regular staff meetings.
- Represents Gentle Family in a positive and professional manner.
- Supports the mission, vision, and values Gentle Family.
- Performs other related duties as required such as, but not limited to regular household activities needed for the daily upkeep and maintenance of the home. Staff need to be able to lift a minimum of 5 lbs.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education/college diploma in _**Child and Youth Worker and/or Social Service**_ _**Worker**_ or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of two-year experience working experience as a Child & Youth Worker and/or Social Worker in the _Child Welfare Industry_.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or physical/medical/behavioral support needs or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
