We are welcoming applications for the role of Senior Accounting Associate, based in Kitchener, Ontario. The chosen candidate will be pivotal in maintaining our financial records and processing customer applications. This role is integral to our team and will involve detailed work in General Accounting, Banking & Cash Management, and Financial Compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Expertly process customer credit applications, ensuring accuracy and efficiency at all times.
• Maintain meticulous customer credit records and initiate appropriate actions when needed.
• Act as the key point of contact for all duties related to accounting support associates.
• Ensure the general ledger (GL) is accurately maintained, including the amortization of prepaid expenses.
• Handle customer bankruptcy resolution tasks such as recording all customer bankruptcies, receiverships and proposals.
• Conduct daily review of all bank accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Assist with external audits by providing all requested materials and documentation in a timely manner.
• Support the accounting manager by ensuring a timely month-end close.
• Participate in cross-functional and departmental continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, including all additions and disposals of assets.
• Manage archiving of all documentation, ensuring all files are easily identified and accessible.
• Maintain corporate credit cards, including supplying and approving application forms, cancelling cards when necessary.
• Calculate, remit, and record all monthly payments in the general ledger for financial compliance obligations.
• Prepare bank reconciliation of all bank accounts for approval.
• Document policies, procedures and workflow within the accounting department.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role
• Proficient in account reconciliation activities
• Demonstrated experience in managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
• Experience in performing bank reconciliations
• Ability to accurately perform data entry tasks
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting
• Experience in executing month end close procedures
• Familiarity with various accounting software systems
• In-depth understanding of general ledger operations
• Knowledgeable in accrual accounting, including expense and monthly accruals
