Chick-fil-A, Inc., Founder S. Truett Cathy started the business in 1946, when he and his brother, Ben, opened an Atlanta diner known as The Dwarf Grill (later renamed The Dwarf House®). We are currently seeking a full-time Health and Safety Supervisor to ensure the restaurant follows health and safety standards in Ontario. This position is crucial in fostering a culture of safety within the team. 

 

Under the supervision of the HR Director, the duties and responsibilities of the Health and Safety Supervisor include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

·       Develops and implements comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure compliance with relevant legislations, regulations and industry standards;

·       Promotes a culture of safety awareness and encourages employees to report any safety concerns;

·       Creates and maintains safety policies and procedures to minimize health and safety incidents and hazards;

·       Establishes a joint health and safety committee, conducts regular meetings to discuss safety concerns, updates, actions plans, compliance standards, and ways to continuously improve safety measures; 

·       Conducts regular safety audits and inspections to identify, assess and address potential risks;

·       Maintains open communication with management, employees and external safety partners and organizations;

·       Provides training and awareness programs in order to educate employees on safety protocols and best practices; 

·       Ensures all employees are educated on and adhere to safety regulations and guidelines;

·       Investigates accidents, incidents, and near misses, provides recommendations for corrective actions and preventative measures;

·       Maintains accurate records of all safety related incidents, reports them along with proper documentation to the Ontario Ministry of Labour and other relevant agencies and  contacts as required; and

·       Organizes safety drills and exercises.  

 

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: 

 

·       Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science or a related field;

·       Minimum Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience of relevant health and safety management role; 

·       Strong knowledge of local and federal safety regulations and standards, including practical implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and associated regulations and standards;

·       Proficient in MS office, project and safety management software;

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

·       Analytical mindset with the ability to quickly identify and address safety concerns;

·       Strong organizational and time management skills;

·       Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and 

·       Passionate and committed to promoting a culture of safety and employee wellbeing.
