We are seeking a Total Rewards Specialist, Benefits based out of our North American Head Quarters in Edmonton. Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards, this role requires an individual to support and/or lead in the development, execution, and monitoring of Total Rewards programs and initiatives in alignment with sector and company strategies and priorities to position PCL as an employer of choice.

 

Here's how a Benefits Specalist for our Edmonton NAHQ office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities
  • Conducts research, analysis, program design, and communication in multiple areas of Total Rewards, including retirement savings, benefits, expatriate benefits, disability management, and employee assistance programs.
  • Provides education, analysis, and other support related to Total Rewards as needed and produces monthly/quarterly/annual reports for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the administration of Total Rewards documentation (guides, FAQs, forms, etc.).
  • Coordinates day-to-day operational requirements for the benefits programs, liaising between district HR representatives, benefits carriers, and third-party administrators. 
  • Assists employees with enrollment processes, queries, and claims submissions.
  • Supports the disability management process acting as a point of contact between employee, manager, HR representative, and carrier, ensuring that the privacy of employee’s medical information is upheld.
  • Responsible for the administration, reporting, communication, and education of the Employee and Family Assistance program.
  • Responsible for the administration of the group retirement savings plans acting as a main contact for employees and HR.
  • Collaborates with other corporate departments and the HR Leadership team to ensure alignment with priorities and initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains strong, customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Provides support to various tasks as needed within the Total Rewards department.
     
Qualifications
  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in human resources or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of progressively more complex experience in a related field.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholder groups and negotiating the complexity of the different interests, perspectives, and objectives.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of principles, practices, procedures related to Total Rewards (benefits and pension) and applicable legislation.
  • Ability to anticipate, assess and readily adapt to changing priorities, maintain resiliency and effectively work in a changing environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and formats.
