Director, Franchise Sales & Consolidation builds and facilitates the Subway Canada market growth plan, by recruiting best in class franchisees and driving Multi-Unit Owner consolidation. As a critical component to the Subway Development Team, this role will monitor restaurant & franchisee performance, remodel requirements and franchise agreement renewal to drive decision making around long term franchisee relationships.

The person will lead the execution of the market plan through rigorous review and recommendations regarding all submitted store transfers that may include financial validation, store closures, offer to purchase, remodel, and development of new Restaurants.

 Essential Functions

• Recruit and build best in class Franchise Sales team to drive Subway Canada growth plans and consolidation strategies.

• Identify, evaluate, and recruit qualified franchisees for new and existing Subway Canada opportunities.

o Build, develop and maintain relationships with existing franchisees and new Multi-Unit Operators.

o Take a leadership role in the evaluation of restaurant transfers and make cross-functional recommendations that drive the overall market optimization plan.

• Complete rigorous financial analysis and recommendations regarding New Restaurant Openings, Transfers and Closures.

• Facilitates execution of cross-functional Market Consolidation plans that build Multi-Unit Owner clusters driving operational synergies and franchisee profitability.

o Educate and guide franchisees regarding the benefits of market consolidation.

o Use market mapping tools to drive restaurant to franchisee ratio. 

• Use tools such as REV, BAT, Transfer Checklist, Renewal Checklist and Remodel Requirements to drive consolidation.

• Liaise with Subway Legal and act as Subway Canada’s franchise legislation expert and advise Canadian Leadership Team on critical provincial disclosure and franchise agreement changes that may impact the business.

o Manage relationship between Subway Canada’s and the Canadian Franchise Association

• Attend Franchise Shows and Expos to recruit new multi-unit owners to Subway.

• Act as a brand ambassador all the time.

Skills and Abilities Required:

• Bachelor's Degree preferred in Business or equivalent experience.

• Must have thorough understanding of Canadian Retail landscape.

o Experience or understanding of overall market planning and its impact on franchisee profitability. • Knowledge of franchise and licensing law, regulations, and procedures.

• Management of mergers and acquisitions, financial validation, and financial consulting preferably in a QSR environment. Business valuation and brokerage negotiation. Record of budget and financial accomplishments.

• Ability to work with a diverse group of people and experience leading cross-functional decision-making. 

• Must have a positive attitude, be self-motivating, and have excellent time management and communication skills, good relationship building skills, flexible and detail-oriented.

• Strong knowledge of Strategic Planning, Sales Analysis, Consumer Insights and Brand Management • Some travel within the territory required
