Job Description

Note:

·       One of our clients is hiring for multiple roles as a Cyber Security Engineer. This position does not offer any visa sponsorship. We are looking for people already living in Canada.


As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to safeguard our organization's digital assets. You will work closely with IT teams to ensure that security best practices are integrated into all aspects of our technology infrastructure. This role involves monitoring systems, identifying vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents to prevent and mitigate risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust security architectures and frameworks for new and existing systems.
  • Monitor and analyze network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity, using security tools and systems.
  • Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability testing, and risk analysis.
  • Respond to and manage security incidents, including investigation, mitigation, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with IT and software development teams to ensure security is built into system designs and operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on cybersecurity awareness and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, NIST).
  • Manage and maintain security tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint protection platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity or a related IT role.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including risk management, threat modeling, and incident response.
  • Experience with security tools and technologies such as SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption methods.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards, such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and NIST.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CISM, CompTIA Security+) are highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud security, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Experience with security in DevOps environments.
