As a key contact point in the RGA-client partnership, the incumbent will act as the liaison for all new business client enquiries and support other RGA departments in responding quickly, effectively, and clearly. You have a strong focus on client service and developing partnerships.

This is a 16 months contract 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities/Activities:

Develop and sustain strong, trusting relationships with client counterparts in the reinsurance management and new business areas with existing and targeted insurance companies. Work in a team environment, developing and encouraging a spirit of cooperation and coordination among departments in dealing with clients. Demonstrate the differentiated value of the RGA offering. Quickly and effectively resolve issues or challenges in the acquisition of new business Support the request for proposal (“RFP”) process in a timely and efficient manner, following internal guidelines and authorities. Work in collaboration with the pricing team, the other members of the business development team, the underwriting team, and functional leads in support of market leading strategies for responding to RFPs. Participate actively in the negotiation of reinsurance terms and conditions which meet profit objectives. Work with the legal team to negotiate treaty language to provide the necessary protection and ensure treaties are prepared in a timely manner. Coordinate the client engagement framework in collaboration with the other members of the business development team and functional/line of business leads. Including: Maintaining material and summaries related to target companies. Building and maintaining summaries of the competitive landscape at each of our clients. Proactively developing competitive tactical plans for each client in advance of RFPs. Participating in the development and maintenance of key client initiatives. Maintaining relationship matrix for key clients. Understand the dynamics which impact on the profitability of the business and ensure that potential problems are discovered and addressed early. Maintain high visibility in the market by meeting with insurers, participating at industry meetings and by joining pertinent industry committees. Maintain a focus on personal professional growth and development. Apply sound judgement built on the knowledge and understanding of reinsurance structures, treaty provisions, clients’ risk and RGA’s risk appetite. Address the evolving needs of our clients in a timely manner and as a business partner. Contribute to maintaining RGA’s position as a market leader. Build solid relationships with other departments within RGA, ensuring optimal collaboration and regular communication.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

Required

A minimum of 10 years of industry experience. A demonstrated track record in contributing to successful business strategies with strong understanding of market, business, and competitive patterns and trends. Exposure to financial reporting, corporate functions and/or risk management is an asset. Good understanding of the life insurance and reinsurance industry, including products, pricing, distribution, competition, treaties, practices, relevant insurance regulatory laws and tax laws and their impact on products and client company operations. Familiar with and comfortable working in a matrix organization Fluent in English

Preferred

Actuarial background with Fellowship designation 5+ years reinsurance experience 5+ years of management or supervisory experience Proven expertise in conceiving, designing, and developing innovative insurance and/or reinsurance solutions. Multiple product line and functional area experience Extensive life insurance product experience A recognized or emerging professional within the industry
