Description
The Manager, Total Rewards is a critical leadership position in Human Resources that stewards and owns company-wide programs and processes for all employees in compensation, payroll, benefits, wellbeing and disability management.
This position has a team of individual contributors in unique and specialized areas, each of which require training and at least 2-3 years of experience.
Deliverables will often be presented directly to executives and senior leaders.
Collaboration and coordination with other HR leaders, as well as senior leaders across the business, is core to this role.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
Provide expertise regarding the strategic design, implementation, communication, and administration of the company's compensation, benefits and retirement programs and policies to align with organizational goals.
Collaborate with external resources and consultants to proactively review compensation, benefits and disability management trends and benchmarks.
Coordinate the participation of external market surveys.
Oversees disability management process, including vendor and broker relationship.
Prepare consultation to the HR team and business units on emerging compensation and benefits trends.
Prepare and support the execution of the annual compensation process, including recommendations for approach to Inter Pipeline's executive team.
Ensure regulatory compliance of all programs.
Manage the partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Provide leadership and guidance to compensation, benefits, disability management and payroll teams.
Work cross-functionally to support and drive the overall HR strategy.
Manage the company's library of job classifications, job families, positions and titles.
Stewart Inter Pipeline's wellbeing strategy.
Education, Skills and Experience
Post-secondary education with focus in Human Resources, Commerce, or Organizational Behavior.
Minimum 10 years of experience working in total rewards.
Certified Compensation Professional is an asset.
Consulting experience is an asset.
Understanding of how Total Rewards fits into broader department and organizational strategy.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Desire and drive to deliver and see projects through to completion.
Strong project management, process improvement skills.
Excellent organizational skills are required due to volume and complexity of work.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and use good judgment.
Resourceful and able to contribute ideas and focused on solutions.
Ability to balance employee and owner lens when problem solving.
Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and handle a variety of requests with competing deadlines.
Collaborative and able to coach and work with all levels of management and staff regarding confidential matters.
Expertise in compensation, benefits and disability management fundamentals (salary planning, structures, incentive administration, market benchmarking, compensation & benefits analysis, benefits plan design & implementation, short- and long-term disability process, Workers Compensation Board).
Employment law as it relates to compensation and benefits (e.g., separation of employment).
Tax implications related to employment income.
Familiarity with corporate accounting rules and concepts.
Proactive approach to working with finance, legal, tax, as well as continued partnership with external consulting experts.
Advanced-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
