Job Type: Temporary Full-time, up to 2 Years, Union Salary Range: $79,206.40 to $94,840.20 per year Posted: Friday, January 23, 2026 Application Deadline: Monday, February 16, 2026 at 11:59 pm The Opportunity The Information Technology Department provides information technology expertise and professional services to all City departments, affiliated agencies (Barrie Public Library, Barrie Police Services) and area municipalities receiving Barrie fire dispatch services. The Department is responsible for delivering, administering, managing and supporting (in partnership with the business units) all data and voice communications, including but not limited to network infrastructure, servers, storage infrastructure, printers, computing infrastructure, applications and software, databases, web services, geographic information systems, and project and portfolio management. The Department provides daily technology support to over 1100 users at more than 40 City locations across the City. The AI Systems Analyst role will play an important role in enhancing the City's information technology solutions through the integration of advanced AI technologies. Working closely with the Business Applications and Digital Transformation teams, the position will design, configure, test, implement, administer, and securely manage AI solutions that meet the operational needs of the City’s business operating units. The AI Systems Analyst will foster strong collaborative relationships with IT staff, project team members, other City staff and users, and external partners – such as other municipalities, agencies, and vendors – throughout the solution development lifecycle, to ensure the delivery of high quality and reliable solutions that achieve defined project outcomes and align with corporate objectives and departmental requirements. Education (degree/diploma/certifications) Four (4) year University Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related discipline Don’t meet the education credentials as outlined above but have years of directly related experience? Further information is available at Position Equivalency Code: F Experience Five (5) years of experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities. Demonstrated experience in an information technology portfolio developing, supporting, and managing business systems. Demonstrated experience in disaster recovery, high availability, virtualization and mobile technologies. Knowledge / Skill / Ability Demonstrated Ability to: think and work collaboratively forming working relationships with both internal and external groups align branch programs/services with departmental and corporate goals and objectives champion the mission and values of the City manage vendor relationships and achieve desired performance outcomes while maintaining a positive working relationship commit to continuous learning and professional development Intermediate computer literacy using the following systems and software: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); Microsoft technologies including but not limited to IIS, .NET, Visual Studio, SharePoint, SQL; and the Internet. Availability, on a rotational basis, to assist with after‑hours questions, concerns, or emergencies; to attend evening/weekend meetings or special events; or to work outside of designated normal hours per week. Other Important Information Location: City Hall, 70 Collier Street, Barrie, Ontario * *Please note that the City has a Hybrid Work Program Procedure that may allow a hybrid work arrangement for employees who meet the eligibility requirements. Hours: The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
