Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of? At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system. To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate: someone passionate about our mission and the power of crypto and blockchain technology to transform the financial system. We want someone eager to leave their mark, who thrives under pressure, values high-caliber colleagues, and actively seeks feedback to improve. We seek a problem-solver who runs toward challenges, not away from them. Our work culture is intense and not for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside top performers who expect excellence, Coinbase is the place for you. While many roles are remote-first, this position requires in-person participation throughout the year, including team and company-wide offsites to foster collaboration and alignment. We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team within the Platform Product Group, which aims to build a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform to maximize velocity, efficiency, and quality. This team provides foundational services used across Coinbase to ensure a consistent, high-quality user experience. Responsibilities: Build and manage engineering teams to develop features, services, and infrastructure. Coach team members to foster positive impact and support career growth. Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and leadership to translate vision into a quarterly roadmap, breaking down complex projects into manageable tasks. Provide technical guidance, ensuring high-quality code and engineering practices, and support the successful delivery of distributed, multi-tenant systems at scale. Work with talent acquisition to identify and recruit exceptional engineers aligned with Coinbase’s culture. Contribute to processes that ensure engineering quality and meet SLAs. Requirements: Minimum 7 years of software engineering experience. At least 2 years of engineering management experience. Strong understanding of high-quality code and effective engineering processes. Execution-focused, capable of navigating ambiguity and delivering results. Ability to balance strategic and short-term planning. Experience with large-scale, distributed, multi-tenant systems. Hands-on skills in coding, reviewing, incident management, or troubleshooting as needed. Passion for building an open financial system that unites the world. Nice to Haves: Experience leading Developer Experience, Platform, or similar teams. Experience at a fast-paced, high-growth tech company. Crypto experience, including on-chain activities like interacting with Ethereum, ENS, dApps, or blockchain services. Additional Information: Position #: GPEM06US Remote work is permitted, but in-person attendance is expected throughout the year. Pay Range: $217,800 CAD (full-time, plus bonus and benefits) Applicants limited to four applications per 30 days. Please evaluate your fit carefully before applying. Equal Opportunity & Accessibility: Coinbase is committed to diversity and equal opportunity. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, gender, religion, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other protected status. We accommodate disabilities and provide accessible application options. For more info, see our Privacy Notice and related links.
