Design Release Engineer - Associate - PSP

Job Summary:

Our client in Windsor, ON is looking for a Design Release Engineer - Associate - PSP. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do:

HVAC Refrigerant Loop design release engineer.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

The HVAC Release Engineer is responsible for the development and validation of the automotive HVAC compressor and A/C lines. The candidate will ensure the components meet performance objectives and will coordinate development with other functional areas such as powertrain, BIW, Aero/Thermal, Engine Cooling and suppliers. Duties will include (not limited to) writing source packages, specifications, requirements, change notices and overall supplier management to meet program timing and deliverables. Candidate will maintain a component and sub-system DVP&R, support and keep up to date with component bench testing, simulation, drive-cell and static cell test results as well as perform data analysis and establish proper corrective actions as required. Need to lead virtual team to design and perform CFD and FEA analysis for components to meet performance. Candidate will also need to support pilot and pre-production build process at the assembly plant for development and installation of AC line and compressors.

Basics:

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university.
  • 1-3 years of experience in HVAC compressors and/or A/C line design/development. Other related design experience (Engine cooling, Aero-Thermal) also a plus.
  • Very good knowledge about Unigraphics NX and CATIA.
  • Strong PC MS Office skills required. Excellent written, verbal and listening skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter and motivated to produce results.
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
  • Basic thermodynamics knowledge.
  • Driving of a vehicle required.
  • Occasional travel to the US for meetings/trainings.

Preferred:

  • Experience in e-compressors, chillers, EV components.
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
  • Basic knowledge in Thermodynamics.
  • Automotive assembly plant experience.
  • HVAC system engineering knowledge.
  • Previous experience as an AC line design and release engineer.
