Responsibilities Penetrate accounts at the functional and executive level, working with district leaders and industry experts to design superior solutions for customers’ current and future needs. Provide cross‑territory technical and sales expertise when needed. Support the execution of MSC Collaboration projects and cross‑selling activities. Act as a role model for all sales associates and consistently demonstrate MSC values and financial achievement. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure operational efficiency and service levels meet and exceed customer expectations. Achieve sales plan and account retention targets. Identify and grow opportunities within the district through collaboration with strategic accounts, national accounts, and MSC sales teams. Effectively communicate initiatives among multiple contacts within a customer. Maximize productivity by utilizing multiple MSC Solution channels. Develop world‑class relationships with customers and deliver key components of the sales strategy with initiative to solve customer needs. Acquire customers by exceeding their requirements and present sales presentations to strategic prospective clients. Stay aware of the competitive landscape and emerging technologies to best position MSC in the marketplace. Develop territory strategy, identify strategic partnerships, and cultivate local partnerships and affiliations. Research and generate new leads through cold calling, canvassing, referrals, and partner relationships. Retain customer base by delivering a superior customer experience. Maintain accurate sales records and prepare reports as required. Support implementation of major company programs and initiatives. Assist or conduct prospect/customer surveys and set up new customer locations. Secure and submit customer orders using wireless ordering technology. Develop pricing strategy for non‑contract customers in accordance with company policies. Submit written reports in a timely manner as requested by management. Foster MSC culture within the department and across the company. Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in account retention and penetration with verifiable sales successes. Proven track record in new account acquisition and account expansion. High integrity and ability to quickly establish customer relationships. Problem‑solving skills and ability to develop action plans. Technical product knowledge in fasteners, chemicals, industrial maintenance supplies, electrical, plumbing, welding, or workshop supplies. Ability to read technical documents and develop analyses. Excellent verbal, written, listening, presentation, and questioning skills. Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email) and comfortable with PC‑based order entry and wireless handheld scanners. Basic math skills and ability to organize and manage time effectively. Preferred: two to four‑year college degree. Preferred: 3+ years of outside direct sales or service experience. Preferred: 4 years of industry experience. Other Requirements Valid driver's license. Ability to drive several hours per day to customer locations within an assigned territory or region. Job requires frequent lifting, bending, and stretching. Ability to lift or move products weighing up to 60 pounds (27 kg). Compensation Compensation starts at $67,000 – $100,000 depending on experience. Why MSC?
