Overview Job Posting Sessional Lecturer - EDS291H5S Black Education. This course investigates first-hand experiences and contributions of Black students and teachers in the Canadian education system. Historical and systemic barriers to access will be studied along with current policy, practice and teaching pedagogies aimed at eliminating oppression. Afrocentric schooling models and equity/diversity principles inform policy analysis and discussion on education’s future. Mode of instruction: in-person. Sessional Details Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2026 to April 30, 2026 Rate information (inclusive of vacation pay and 0.5 FCE): Sessional Lecturer I: $9,820.70 Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $10,510.04 Sessional Lecturer II: $10,510.04 Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,760.28 Sessional Lecturer III: $10,760.28 Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $11,030.36 Please note that if rates in the collective agreement differ from those stated here, the rates in the collective agreement prevail. Qualifications Required: Ph.D. in Education with expertise in Black Education. Demonstrated background and professional experience in equity, diversity, cultural competency and/or policy with a focus on Black education, Black futurism, anti-racism and/or decolonizing practices. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and pedagogy, and ability to infuse teaching with current research. Preferred: Experience teaching this course or a similar course at the university level. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals at Sessional Lecturer II or III per Article 14:12.
