Associate – Infrastructure Investments, Toronto


Our client is a global independent infrastructure fund manager with multiple global offices which has recently been acquired by a large global private equity firm. Their North American investment activities are lead by a successful and accomplished team based in Toronto and New York. Focus areas in renewables, energy transition, digital and transportation, taking on positions of influence. With a very sizable new fund and focus on CORE+ investing this is a very busy team and the team is growing again. Your role will focus on the entire investment process as well as portfolio management. The successful candidate will have 3-4 years of experience in an analytically focused capacity, related to infrastructure investing, coming from another infrastructure fund or pension fund, investment banking, project finance, infrastructure consulting or infrastructure developer.


Responsibilities:


  • Actively involved in all aspects of investing from sourcing, modeling, due diligence, expert meetings, negotiations and working closely with management teams
  • Preparation of complex models, including LBOs
  • Invest across all infrastructure asset classes in North American investments with both the Toronto and NY teams
  • Develop a strong understanding of the various asset classes, including regulatory and government policy, technological advancements.
  • Value creation involvement, such as business expansions and bolt-on acquisitions
  • Support in the divestment process of portfolio assets
  • Provide support as needed by attending meetings, preparation for and following up on action items, conferences, offsites, etc;


Qualifications and characteristics:


  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in commerce/business, economics, engineering, mathematics, or related field
  • 3-4 years of industry related professional experience in a highly analytically focused capacity
  • Investment banking, pension fund or infrastructure investor, preferred.
  • Previous experience with energy, transportation or digital infrastructure and related industries, preferred.
  • Demonstrated financial fluency and understanding of accounting
  • Exceptional analytical & modeling skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal
  • Highly team oriented, collaborative, focused on collective success of the team
  • Some travel will be required
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
