**Job Description**:
**Infrastructure Overview**:
CPP Investments’ Infrastructure division directly invests in large-scale assets that provide defensive long-term returns, substantial inflation protection and possess mínimal substitution risks. The division typically targets investments in regulated utilities, transportation, telecommunication, and energy sectors with an equity investment size from $500 million up to several billion dollars. The division completed its first active investment in 2006, currently possesses 30 direct investments valued at $52 billion and employs 50 professionals across 6 global offices.

The Associate will play a key role in making and managing direct infrastructure investments on a principal basis. The individual will work with and assist the wider team in evaluating infrastructure investment opportunities, with a focus on North America, but also global opportunities, conducting research, developing recommendations, participating in the execution of investments and monitoring, and managing investments.

**Role-Specific Accountabilities**:
A) Evaluate investment opportunities and key sector themes:

- Research and analyze a variety of infrastructure investment opportunities
- Perform due diligence on opportunities including past and projected financial performance, quality of management teams, investment merits and risks, regulatory environment, industry dynamics and other relevant factors
- Build dynamic financial models to evaluate opportunities including testing assumptions and sensitivities, evaluating expected returns and generating valuation recommendations
- Meet with company management team and review performance, strategy, outlook, and other relevant topics as required
- Assist in presenting investment recommendations to investment committees

B) Execute Infrastructure Investments:

- Assist with the overall execution of infrastructure investments including collaborating with management teams to drive performance
- Liaise with investment partners (other investors) and advisors (financial, legal, etc.)

C) Monitor Infrastructure Investments:

- Monitor ongoing financial and operational performance of infrastructure investments
- Identify and help implement performance improvement initiatives at portfolio companies
- Assist in performing valuation reviews

D) Build the Team:

- Participate in and contribute to weekly departmental meetings
- Share knowledge by collaborating among team members and across geographies
- Other relevant duties and projects as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- 2 to 4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity or consulting; experience in infrastructure investments/transactions is desirable
- CFA, CBV, or CA designation is considered an asset
- Strong research, financial modelling, analytical and valuation skills
- Professionalism and integrity
- Strong interpersonal skills and business relationship skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Flexibility, adaptability, and initiative
- Good judgement
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Team player who enjoys a high-performance culture
- Willingness to travel
