Base pay range CA$70,000.00/yr - CA$110,000.00/yr Team Lead, Payroll Overview The Team Lead, Payroll will supervise and lead a global payroll team, ensuring accurate payroll processing, benefits administration, reconciliations, and government remittances. The role supports internal customer satisfaction, develops global payroll strategy, manages vendor relations, mentors staff, and drives continuous improvement in payroll operations. Responsibilities Lead the Payroll Team in full‑cycle payroll preparation and administration globally in compliance with all required legislation. Ensure accurate and timely processing of wage adjustments, retroactive pay, statutory holiday pay, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and other compensation elements for direct employees and EOR workers. Implement and oversee the monthly reconciliation process and maintain accurate payroll data integrity across HRIS, payroll, and vendor systems. Act as the liaison with outsourced payroll vendors, driving accountability for service levels and issue resolution. Keep up to date on legislative changes in payroll and benefits, coordinating system parameter changes. Maintain the payroll calendar and payday schedules for employees worldwide. Respond to employee, leader, HR, and Finance queries in a timely manner and provide payroll subject‑matter expertise. Prepare payroll process documentation for training, continuous improvement, and audit readiness. Support Finance with year‑end financial audit and other third‑party audits. Supervise, mentor, and develop the Payroll Team, conducting performance reviews and managing resource planning. Drive continuous improvement in payroll processes, tracking service‑level metrics, and collaborating cross‑functionally. Assist with departmental budget planning and strategic planning to enhance service delivery and operational efficiencies. Qualifications 4‑9 years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership or team lead responsibilities with proven project‑management skills. PCP or CPM designation (or international equivalent) required; strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements. Experience in accounting/reconciliations of payroll liabilities accounts and knowledge of Payroll GL. Hands‑on experience with outsourced payroll vendors (global payroll experience preferred), HRIS, and payroll systems. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Experience managing payroll across multiple jurisdictions; strong knowledge of Canadian and US payroll required, with global exposure highly valued. Exceptional attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication, and ability to prioritize tasks while meeting deadlines timely and accurately. Excellent customer service skills and ability to explain complex issues at an understandable level.
