Cisco Network Team Lead (CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, or CCIE) – Remote in Canada Only Seeking an experienced network team lead to provide technical leadership and management for the client’s network and security environment. The role is remote and open to candidates located in Canada. Position Overview Reports to: Director, Physical Infrastructure. Primary responsibilities include planning, supervising, and mentoring network teams, designing network architecture, managing change, incident, and problem processes, and leading network projects. Primary Accountabilities Team Lead for Network (20%) Evaluates constantly shifting priorities and assigns Tier 2 and Tier 3 staff and contractor resources to meet objectives. Approves requirements for new procedures and hardware/software solutions. Supervises planning and execution of service orders and change requests (firewall, load balancers, etc.). Resolves escalated issues from other teams and clients. Works cooperatively and independently in a multi‑team environment. Leads complex, high‑impact problems efficiently and effectively. Utilizes problem‑solving skills to develop innovative solutions. Demonstrates strong interpersonal and organizational skills with managers and clients. Communicates professionally and effectively with all stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality. Network Management and Operation (30%) Trains, mentors, and directs junior staff responsible for network improvement. Reviews and signs off on all change‑management affecting infrastructure, servers, networks, and firewalls. Identifies opportunities to improve operations and streamline processes. Develops and supports network architecture changes for new services. Creates and implements policies and procedures for networks. Documents networking and configuration standards. Change, Incident, and Problem Management (10%) Ensures compliance with change‑management policies. Accepts and resources incidents and problems to meet service levels. Leads technical staff in resolving complex/critical incidents and problems. Prioritizes and assigns incidents to junior staff. Ensures management and business analysts are aware of high‑priority incidents. Mentors staff in incident/contact resolution and change planning. Projects (30%) Provides technical expertise and support on network projects. Documents and plans project requirements, resources, schedules, and responsibilities. Monitors project process and resource usage to ensure compliance. Schedules implementation, directs installation, and conducts post‑implementation reviews. Contributes to detailed implementation and upgrade plans. Other Duties (10%) Develops reports and presentations for stakeholders. Provides advice and guidance to senior management. Acts for the Director of Physical Infrastructure when required. Performs any other duties assigned by the Director. Supervisory and Training Responsibilities Directly supervises six technical staff. Supervises students or volunteers. Leads project teams and monitors staff work. Education & Experience Degree in Computer Science or related field, or a Diploma in Computer Science. 5+ years in a Cisco Network or Telco Team Lead role, supervising and motivating a team to deliver high‑risk projects. Must Have Experience Disaster recovery and business continuity. Working with internal and external support teams and vendor organizations. Using and reporting on network monitoring tools. Experience mentoring and training staff in an operational environment. Managing all aspects of network support for a large‑scale organization. Nice to Have Skills & Certifications CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, or CCIE certifications. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Key Technical Skills WAN routing protocols (e.g., BGP). Network monitoring tools (SDN, MPLS, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, etc.). Security technologies (IDS/IPS, firewalls, etc.). Azure or AWS Cloud Storage and backup technology. Monitoring and discovery tools (Nagios, ServiceNow, etc.). Management & Business Skills Strong people‑management, coaching, and mentoring skills. Excellent verbal, written, listening, and communication skills. Ability to work well in teams and independently. Risk management, business continuity, change management, and accountability.
