Senior Accounting Technician

Join us as a Senior Accounting Technician - Hybrid at Cowan Insurance Group . Reporting to the Supervisor, Third Party Administration (TPA) Finance, the Senior Accounting Technician is responsible for driving the execution of the monthly accounting cycle completed on behalf of our clients. Our TPA department is unique because we administer group benefits plans on behalf of our clients — from billing to collections to remittances, this department does it all This role is for a self-starter who can evaluate information and problem solve. What You Will Do Lead the preparation and processing of the monthly accounting cycle, ensuring accuracy and completeness of journal entries Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies Maintain and update accounting records, supporting documentation, and process documentation Prepare and investigate discrepancies in monthly invoicing Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting Assist with the yearly audit and provide documentation as needed Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation What You Will Bring Post-secondary diploma or degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field Bilingualism (French and English) is considered a strong asset Minimum 3 years progressive accounting experience is required Sound knowledge of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Proficiency in MS Office products with advanced working knowledge of Excel (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables and IF statements) Strong written and oral communication skills Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills Who We Are Proudly independent and Canadian-owned, Cowan Insurance Group has been a true market leader in the insurance industry since 1927.
