The Role
We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, self-starter to join our team as a HR Generalist . This role will play an integral role in supporting various HR functions and providing comprehensive HR support to employees and management across a diverse internal client base, including Hospitality, Production, Lab, Vineyard Operations, Earthworks, Outside Sales and G&A. You will contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, coordinate recruitment and onboarding activities, manage employee relations, and support various HR initiatives. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of HR best practices, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This exciting opportunity is based in our West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada winery location.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment:
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for regular and peak-season recruiting, including drafting job descriptions, advertising job postings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, initiating pre-employment background and/or reference checks and making recommendations for final selection
- Prepare offer documents including offer letters, seasonal contract extensions/ end of seasonal contract letters, NDAs, etc.
Employee Relations:
- Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures and benefits
- Manage employee relations issues, including leave(s) of absence, conducting internal investigations, and recommending appropriate actions to resolve conflicts and grievances
- Support performance and/or disciplinary actions, and terminations in compliance with company policies and applicable legislation
HR Policies & Procedures:
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures in alignment with legal requirements and best practices
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations and keep abreast of changes to ensure adherence
Training and Development:
- Conduct new hire orientation sessions
- Identify training needs and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to design and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge
- Support career development initiatives and succession planning efforts
Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program Administration:
- Manage the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program, including the submission of LMIAs, coordinating workers with WALI and/or Working Link, consulate/embassy communication, booking travel, organizing housing inspections, and establishing and implementing annual internal onboarding procedures
- Stay informed about updates and changes to the TFW program and communicate these changes to Human Resources and Vineyard Management
HR Projects and Initiatives:
- Develop and implement effective onboarding and offboarding programs, ensuring a smooth transition
- Participate in enhancements to current HRIS system (DayForce)
- Contribute to the development and implementation of HR projects and initiatives, such as performance management, compensation planning and employee engagement
- Provide HR metrics and reports to assist in decision-making and support HR-related goals and objectives
Compensation and Benefits Administration:
- Support compensation and benefits administration, including drafting compensation and benefits related communication(s) for employees, and processing compensation changes, benefits enrollment(s), changes and termination(s)
- Complete and submit Medical Services Plan (MSP) applications for Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW)
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate HR records, including electronic personnel files, payroll information, and employee data
- Maintain tracking of policy review and acknowledgements
- Maintain Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) employment related data (Ex. work permit, MSP/SIN, travel preferences, etc.)
- Submit SIN renewal applications for Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs)
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration or a related field. HR Certification (Ex. CPHR) is an asset
- 3-5 years of proven experience as an HR Generalist or similar supporting role, with a comprehensive understanding of HR principles, practices and relevant employment legislation
- HRIS experience required. Dayforce experience an asset
- Demonstrated experience leading or managing a Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program required(TW1) (LT2) . A focus on the SAWP, AgStream, and Low Stream programs an asset
- Valid class 5 driver's license required for occasional local travel
- Proficient in Google and MS Office applications, job-posting, group benefits and other HR-related systems and software
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with employees at all levels
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and integrity
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and tight deadlines simultaneously
- A proactive and self-motivated attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- An adaptable customer service orientation

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
