Job Summary Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) and Kamloops Mental Health and Substance Use (KMHSU) are seeking an experienced addictions psychiatrist to join the multidisciplinary treatment team. The role involves providing compassionate, comprehensive care to individuals and families facing addiction across inpatient, outpatient, community‑based, and concurrent disorder programs, with a strong emphasis on culturally‑safe, equitable access and recovery‑focused outcomes. Known as Canada’s Tournament Capital, it offers a vibrant arts community, extensive recreation facilities, and proximity to provincial parks, lakes, and the Sun Peaks Resort. Facility Highlights The new Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower at RIH provides advanced child and adolescent mental health services, a specialized mental health and substance use inpatient unit, and a 30‑bed general psychiatric unit (20 general beds, 10 high observation beds, 3 seclusion beds). RIH is a 273‑bed Level 1 Trauma Centre and primary referral hub for nearly 250,000 people in the Thompson‑Cariboo–Shuswap area. Key Responsibilities Play a key role in collaborative efforts to provide compassionate, comprehensive care. Work with individuals and families across inpatient, outpatient, community‑based, and concurrent disorder programs. Ensure culturally‑safe and equitable access to mental health and addiction support. Engage in thorough psychiatric assessments, spearhead the crafting and application of sophisticated treatment strategies, and execute vital psychosocial interventions. Emphasize empathy, advocate for harm reduction, and endorse a recovery‑focused outlook. Champion the integration of mental health and addiction services with broader health initiatives. Serve as a mentor to peers, medical undergraduates, postgraduate family practice residents, and participants in the UBC–Okanagan Psychiatry program. Compensation and Benefits As a full‑time addictions psychiatrist in Kamloops, total compensation is expected to range between $380,000 and $575,000, comprising fee‑for‑service payments, sessional contracts, and MOCAP Level 2. Physician overhead is not included. Vacation leave with flexible scheduling. Relocation funding: $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 for moves within Canada, $15,000 for relocation from outside Canada.
