Corporate Legal Assistant and Law Clerk

Our client, a North York law firm is seeking a Legal Assistant and Corporate Law Clerk to join their team. The Legal Assistant and Corporate Law Clerk plays a key support role at the Firm, acting as the central point of contact for clients and working internally to support the team in various administrative duties. The Legal Assistant and Corporate Law Clerk is also responsible for assisting in the preparation and organization of legal documents and providing an overall exceptional customer service experience to all clients, all while upholding the standards of confidentiality.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Formatting and editing documents and forms provided by Associates and Lawyers
- Responsible for completing documentation for incorporations, amalgamations, organizations, Share and Asset Purchases/Sales, Government Filings, and Business Searches and Registrations
- Responsible for completing minute book updates as needed
- Ensuring the complete and accurate filing of all legal documents
- Drafting client correspondences
- Preparing account and reporting letters, including invoicing clients
- Preparing statements of adjustments
- Invoicing lawyers time and disbursements
- Coordinate receipt of cheques in partnership with accounting
- Assisting in all aspects of closings
- Assisting in scheduling and coordinating client meetings
- Faxing and filing as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A post-secondary diploma in a related Legal Administration and/or Law Clerk program or equivalent years of experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position
- Familiarity with PCLaw, including docketing and billing procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teraview
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently, accurately, and efficiently on multiple files
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates a professional demeanor, high ethical standards, respect, and commitment to service excellence
