What you’ll be working on
- Processes premium payments, refunds, overdue accounts and policy terminations
- Reconciles billings for specialty partners, investigates and communicates any discrepancies to ensure the accounts are accurate
- Compiles and reconciles month-end and year-end accounting and reinsurance reports, as well as investigate any account discrepancies for Corporate Accounting
- Supports Administration Services Only (ASO) group accounts, including quarterly and yearly reporting statements
- Compiles and balances provincial and federal tax submissions for all tax accounts and reports directly to Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Quebec
- Prepares and ensures the timely and accurate release of invoice payments to vendors and disability claimants
- Provides prompt and courteous resolution of inquiries regarding financial and accounting transactions for group clients’ accounts and/or disability claimant benefits from both internal and external sources
- Provides support, guidance, and training to new employees or cross-training initiatives
- Accurate and timely completion of reconciliations and databases to support controls framework for the Group Division
- Uses knowledge of industry standards, internal processes and thinks creatively to provide solutions and resolutions to administrative/accounting issues
What we’re looking for you to have
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 1+ years experience in the insurance/financial services industry
- Knowledge of group benefit contracts and products
- Experience with account reconciliations or payroll calculations
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Bilingualism (English/French) would be an asset
