Position : Accounting Supervisor | Employer : Marberg Staffing Job Type: Temporary Initial Term: December 24, 2025 to March 11, 2026, with possible extension. Compensation: CA$52.72 per hour (CA$52.72/hr base). Regular Work Hours: 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday (35.0 work hours per week), 1 hour unpaid lunch. Reports To: Manager of Accounting. Responsibilities Lead, support and mentor the Finance and Accounting operations team, ensuring all financial processes comply with provincial ministry directives, organizational guidelines and procedures, and GAAP; support continuous improvement of functional efficiency and effectiveness. As one of two Accounting Supervisors, oversee a team of General Accounting, Accounts Payable and Payroll staff. Provide guidance and support to staff, and evaluate staff performance in accordance with the Collective Agreement and organization standards. Create and lead a team that reflects diversity, encourages different perspectives and supports healthy discussion. Ensure timely closing of accounting periods and completion of monthly reconciliations and schedules. Maintain strong internal controls over assigned functions, review and update system controls, policies and procedures, and lead process improvement initiatives. Compile and analyze large volumes of data to support department metrics and KPIs; identify action plans to improve performance where necessary. Review and develop accounting policies and procedures; lead implementation of process improvements. Exercise sound judgment regarding financial resources within branch and department budgets. Research and implement improved functional service standards and standard operating procedures based on best practices. Participate as a member of the Finance Services Management Team and collaborate with other branches and teams to support organizational goals. Additional finance and accounting supervisory and operational responsibilities as required. Qualifications Education: University Degree or College Diploma in Accounting and Finance, Business Administration or related discipline. Professional Credentials: Valid Ontario CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) or PLP (Payroll Leadership Professional) designation awarded or in view. Experience: At least 5+ years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities. Sector Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS). Leadership: Supervisory skills; ability to coordinate and guide staff; strong relationship-building and collaboration across departments. Technical and Language Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel (expert level; testing may be conducted); knowledge of Canadian GAAP; experience with ERP systems such as Oracle; proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint; strong English communication skills; secondary language proficiency is an asset. Task-Based Qualifications and Attributes: Experience managing full accounting close cycles; policy development and documentation; ability to manage large data sets; excellent time management; professional conduct and confidentiality; client/vendor relationship management; commitment to diversity and inclusivity. Additional Requirements: Legally entitled to work in Canada; onsite work; ability to declare conflicts of interest; completion of AODA and OHSA online training prior to start; satisfactory background checks and assessments.
