**Accounting Supervisor**
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments, credit card transactions, and employee expense reports for each local Society supported by the Alzheimer Society of Ontario’s Finance team. This role includes preparing payment files in Sage Intacct, recording bank transactions and deposits, and performing monthly bank reconciliations. The Accounting Supervisor ensures proper coding of expenses and revenue and maintains compliance with internal controls and deadlines.
**What You’ll Be Doing**
Accounts Payable:
- Review journal entries to record credit card transactions - ensuring that all supporting documents received, organized and filed as back-up
- Review journal entries to record expense reimbursement transactions - ensuring that all supporting documents are received and organized as back-up
- Prepare EFT payment files on a weekly basis - ensuring timely vendor payments
- Review Accounts Payable aging, ensuring that payments are made within vendor terms
- Follow-up with leaders to ensure that all invoices are approved in Sage Intacct in time to close each period in accordance with the month-end schedule
- Review coding and completeness of monthly accrual entries, to record expenses in the appropriate period
Revenue Accounting and Bank Reconciliations:
- Maintain up-to-date listing of bank transactions per bank account, tracking journal entry status
- Complete and submit journal entries to record all bank deposits including determining proper coding according to month-end timelines
- Reconcile and prepare all bank accounts for review with the Director of Finance and/or CFO
Supervision:
- Oversee and mentor one direct report using a collaborative approach
- Provide appropriate support, development opportunities, recognition, challenges and motivation for the Accounts Payable Specialist within available resources
- Demonstrate professional conduct and fair and equitable treatment of all employees through mentorship and sharing of best practices
- Accountable for annual performance evaluation and review for the Accounts Payable Specialist
**Who You Are**:
- University degree and a minimum of 5 years’ accounts payable experience, preferably within a multi-level organization
- Experience supervising a direct report
- Experience in a not-for-profit organization is an asset
- Combination of experience and formal education will be considered
- Strong technical skills in financial and accounting areas of practice, including GAAP
- Excellent time management with a proven ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizing skills with close attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to use discretion, judgment and tact in handling sensitive or confidential information or situations
- Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills
- Expert knowledge of MS Excel, Outlook and experience with Sage Intacct (accounting software) would be preferred
- Maturity and experience managing multiple priorities. Well organized and able to work independently and utilize sound judgement to perform all assigned duties with mínimal supervision
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, clients and community agencies
- Able to handle high volumes and multiple priorities in a professional, courteous manner while meeting strict deadlines

Hiring Zone: $75,000 - $80,000
