Hosper Mortgage is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead the finance team, oversee transactional processes, and ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of financial reporting. This leadership position is responsible for guiding and developing a dedicated finance team, driving process improvements, and contributing to the company’s growth as it expands. Responsibilities Oversee daily accounting operations such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations. Supervise and mentor a small finance team. Lead the month‑end close process for multiple entities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are accurate. Review and approve reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules. Prepare and submit monthly and annual regulatory reports in compliance with industry standards. Step in to handle transactional tasks during staff absences or periods of high volume. Maintain high attention to detail and follow up on discrepancies, resolving errors independently. Ensure compliance with IFRS and fund accounting principles. Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve accuracy within the finance function. Collaborate with the Director of Finance and other departments to support business objectives and provide financial insights. Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets. Utilise accounting software such as QuickBooks and Mortgage Automator to manage financial data efficiently. Support the professional development of team members through regular feedback and training. Participate in process improvement initiatives, including automation and development of standard operating procedures. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or ACCA designation preferred. Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a high‑volume, transaction‑heavy accounting environment (preferably in fund accounting, investment, or lending). Strong knowledge of IFRS and fund accounting principles. Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Mortgage Automator, or similar). Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to prioritise in a fast‑paced setting. Demonstrated leadership and team management experience. Legally entitled to work in Canada.
