Story Telling Can Change the World
Are YOU looking for a job where every day YOU will make a difference?
Are you looking for a job where you are part of the team that gives back to Mother Earth?
Are you looking for a job where you get to build relationships with a community who trust and fund Project Forest to rewild Mother Earth on their behalf? If your answer is yes, then we want to talk to you about our role as Project Forest's Communications Specialist.
About Project Forest:
At Project Forest, we dream big. Our mission is to rewild Canada, transforming forgotten and degraded landscapes into lush, thriving forests. We work hand-in-hand with passionate partners to heal the land, remove carbon from the atmosphere, and restore biodiversity—one tree at a time. Our impact is growing, and we need an extraordinary storyteller to help share our journey.
Indigenous communities are at the heart of our work. We collaborate closely with Indigenous leaders and knowledge holders, recognizing that their stewardship and deep-rooted connection to the land are essential to successful rewilding. We are committed to learning from and amplifying Indigenous voices, ensuring that their wisdom guides our approach to restoring ecosystems.
If you're driven by purpose, inspired by nature, and eager to use your voice to make a real difference, we want you on our team.
Position Overview:
As our Communications Specialist, you will be the voice of Project Forest—crafting powerful stories, inspiring action, and connecting people to the transformative work we do. This role is about more than just content; it's about sparking a movement, building a community, and igniting passion for a greener future. If you love writing, thrive in digital spaces, and believe in the power of storytelling to change the world, this is the job for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create compelling content that tells the story of our rewilding projects, partnerships, and impact.
- Develop and manage content for Project Forest's website, social media channels, newsletters, and marketing materials.
- Inspire and engage our community through authentic storytelling and creative campaigns.
- Coordinate public relations efforts, including press releases, media outreach, and interviews.
- Foster relationships with media, influencers, and environmental advocates.
- Amplify Indigenous voices and perspectives in our communications, ensuring their contributions and stories are highlighted.
- Monitor analytics and engagement metrics to optimize content strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and partners to ensure cohesive messaging.
- Support fundraising and donor communication initiatives with heartfelt, persuasive messaging.
What We're Looking For:
- A deep passion for environmental conservation and a strong belief in the power of nature.
- Respect for and commitment to working alongside Indigenous communities and sharing their stories with authenticity and care.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills that captivate, educate, and inspire action.
- Proven experience in communications, marketing, content creation, or public relations.
- Creativity, curiosity, and the ability to think outside the box.
- Strong understanding of social media management and engagement strategies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Experience with graphic design and basic video editing is a plus but not required.
Why Join Project Forest?
- Be part of an organization making a real, lasting impact on Canada's landscapes.
- Work with a dynamic, passionate team that shares your values.
- Collaborate with Indigenous communities and learn from their deep knowledge of the land.
- Flexible remote work environment that supports work-life balance.
- Opportunities to be creative, grow professionally, and make your mark.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Love of the outdoors
- Passion for the environment and Project Forest's mission
- Website (word press) maintenance experience
- Photography and video skills are a plus
- Diploma or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Fundraising, English, Environmental Sciences, Conservation, Indigenous Studies or a related discipline
- Experience working with First Nations
