Engineering Manager - Sensor Event Runtime (Remote) As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We’re also a mission‑driven company. We cultivate a culture that gives every CrowdStriker both the flexibility and autonomy to own their careers. We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. About The Role The Sensor Event Runtime (SER) team is responsible for cross‑platform C & C++ code that lives at the center of the Falcon Sensor. This includes storage, correlation, filtering, rate‑limiting and deduplication logic along with core bus instrumentation and test tooling. These capabilities are vital to support the data gathering and processing logic underlying all of CrowdStrike’s endpoint security capabilities. The team is currently small and senior, and will be growing over the course of the next few years. CrowdStrike is growing rapidly and you will be instrumental in hiring, retention, and growth of the team. You will work cross‑functionally with peers in the engineering organization: engineering management, product management, program management, support, and others. Your impact is not bounded and you will be enabled to engage and collaborate with the many teams that rely on the Falcon endpoint and the data it produces. This is a remote role open to applicants in the United States or Canada. The team is spread between the west coast of North America and Australia. Being in Pacific time or working on that schedule is necessary. As a remote‑first company, you must bring your excellent verbal and written communication skills to bear when you are working with your engineering teams and cross‑functional teams across the globe. What You’ll Do Prioritize work and manage team workload, project resourcing & coordination, including saying “no” and “not yet” when appropriate. Keep the team on track and find ways to adjust when surprises happen. Participate in code and design reviews, providing technical guidance and feedback to team members. Gather and communicate status about how and what the team is doing. Communicate and coordinate with other teams, from individual contributors to executives. Triage customer support and user tickets and build a relationship with those teams. Collaborate with senior engineers and product management to shape roadmap and technical strategy. Balance concrete and immediate use cases with longer‑term technical strategy. Help resolve interpersonal conflicts. Coaching engineers and guiding their career growth via frequent feedback. Hire, interview, and occasionally source candidates. CrowdStrike is a computer security company, but we do not require candidates for this role to have prior security industry experience. We will mentor and train in security topics as needed. We expect a strong interest in CrowdStrike’s mission and a willingness to engage with the needs of our product teams and customers. Engineering Managers at CrowdStrike are hands‑on technical leaders. We don’t expect Engineering Managers to write code on the critical path to shipping features, but you will need to be able to make sense of the team’s PRs. You’ll need to develop in‑depth knowledge of our system architecture, data flows, APIs, test processes, and dependencies, so that you can reason about our team’s work, understand and explain its impact on other teams, and assist in troubleshooting. Some travel will be required, primarily to the United States, for in‑person meetings. This will likely be 2–3 times per year. What You’ll Need Prior experience as a manager of software development teams, coupled with prior experience as a software developer. Experience working on systems software using C++ or C. Solid design and problem‑solving skills with a passion for engineering excellence, quality, security, and performance. Strong cross‑group collaboration and interpersonal communication skills working with a variety of roles including engineering, product management, support, and sales engineering. A strong sense of ownership. Your team owns the code and the future of these components. Demonstrated track record of mentoring and coaching engineers. Experience working with remote teams and individuals while maintaining agility and velocity, and helping the team members grow and succeed. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across the org, from executive staff to engineers. Both a sense of humor and a sense of humility. Bonus Points Familiarity with systems programming on multiple platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux). Experience working with distributed systems that include both endpoint and cloud components. Experience with and interest in cybersecurity. Experience with event‑based architectures. Experience in environments where high levels of safety and confidence are important. Previous experience starting new teams. Benefits Of Working At CrowdStrike Remote‑friendly and flexible work culture. Market leader in compensation and equity awards. Comprehensive physical and mental wellness programs. Competitive vacation and holidays for recharge. Paid parental and adoption leaves. Professional development opportunities for all employees regardless of level or role. Employee Networks, geographic neighborhood groups, and volunteer opportunities to build connections. Vibrant office culture with world class amenities. Great Place to Work Certified™ across the globe. Equal Opportunity Statement CrowdStrike is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
