This role works internally with the Virtual Commissioning (VCx™) and Virtual Strategic Energy Management (vSEM™) Teams and interface externally in customer meetings. Position Summary The Peak Load Management - Efficiency Specialist I/II will support the expansion of Power TakeOff’s Utility program offerings into new programs focused on peak load management and grid stability. This role will also be a technical lead for Power TakeOff’s two existing utility offerings: our Virtual Commissioning (VCx) and Virtual Strategic Energy Management (vSEM) programs. This role will be a central knowledge expert for peak load reduction strategies, peak shaving, and Demand Response planning to help onboard new customers and uncover low/no-cost peak load reduction opportunities. It is also expected that they come in with some knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and energy efficiency best practices useful for advising large commercial and industrial customers uncover deep, low/no-cost energy efficiency opportunities. Specialist I Key Responsibilities Customer Engagement: Work alongside Energy Advisors and vSEM coaches to analyze customer load profiles and find low/no-cost curtailment strategies that align with specific business operations at each facility. Analyzing interval energy use data and working with customers to discover energy efficiency opportunities will also be a regular component of this role. Technical Resource Development and Training: Contribute to research and documentation to help shape internal resources and best practices for technical engagement. Measurement and Verification (M&V): Partner with the internal M&V team to evaluate and communicate performance results of both peak shaving and energy use reduction. Training and Professional Development: Learning & training on additional technical skills to prepare to be a dynamic contributor to other programs outside of vSEM. Specialist II Additional Responsibilities Customer Engagement: Review past projects to identify trends and lessons learned. Provide expert technical guidance and troubleshooting for complex issues as they arise. Contribute to Training and Professional Development: Collaborate with team members to develop internal resources and best practices for technical engagement, as well as training materials for non-technical staff. Contribute to technical trainings in retro-commissioning and energy efficiency for other technical team members. Specialist I Key Qualifications Experience: 3+ years experience in implementing solutions for peak load management (Peak Shaving), Demand Response strategy planning or other Utility DSM programs that target peak load management. Some experience in BAS controls, existing building commissioning or similar energy efficiency work with large customers is highly desired. Preference will be given for candidates with on-site field experience at both commercial and industrial facilities. Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of technical strategies and utility program implementation mechanisms for peak load management and/or demand response is required. Knowledge of utility-side value considerations for peak load DSM programs is a big plus. Substantial knowledge of industrial/manufacturing facility operations, as well as commercial HVAC systems (HVAC, controls, lighting) is also strongly preferred. Skills: Excellent facilitation and communication abilities for presenting technical material to non-technical audiences. Strong analytical skills and experience with data interpretation. Self-starter with strong initiative and project management skills. Education: A bachelor's degree in science or technology is strongly preferred. Certification: CEM, CxA, BCxP, CPE, or equivalent certification is preferred. Interest and passion for energy efficiency consulting & making a positive difference. Must be comfortable working independently in a 100% virtual environment. Specialist II Additional Qualifications Experience: 4+ years experience as per above. Preference will be given for candidates with on-site field experience at both commercial and industrial facilities. Technical Knowledge: In addition to the above, some technical working proficiency with commercial HVAC controls programming in various BAS platforms is desired. Substantial knowledge of industrial/manufacturing facility operations, as well as commercial HVAC systems (HVAC, controls, lighting) is also strongly preferred. Skills: As per above and experience with Salesforce or similar CRM tools is preferred. Certification: CEM, CxA, BCxP, CPE, or equivalent certification is required. Location and Travel Power TakeOff is a 100% virtual company with no physical office location. The position is eligible for employment in the United States. Travel is not expected for this position. Power TakeOff will cover the associated accommodation and travel expenses for any such travel. Compensation And Benefits The total expected base salary range for employees residing in the U.S. is between $70,000 - $95,000 USD per year, depending on experience.
