Job Overview Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) in Kamloops, BC, is seeking an adult psychiatrist to join the expanding Psychiatry department and the Hillside Acute Psychiatric Centre. This role combines .6 FTE at RIH with .4 FTE at the Hillside Center. Responsibilities Provide medical care to RIH’s 26‑bed inpatient unit, conduct consults to the medical/surgical units and the emergency department, and participate in community‑based practice through the Community Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) clinic. Community practices include early psychosis intervention, treatment support, rehabilitation, counseling, seniors mental health, intake/access, rural telehealth, intensive case management, ACT, and substance use. Responsibilities also involve patient assessment and treatment, collaboration with clinicians and managers, and assistance with program development and policy maintenance. At the Hillside Psychiatric Center, duties include diagnosing, stabilizing, and developing rehabilitation strategies for adults and geriatric patients with acute illness or severe dysfunctional behaviors. Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams that include social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, neurologists, and psychiatrists. Academic & Research Opportunities Teaching roles with medical students, residents, and fellows through the affiliation with UBC Faculty of Medicine Southern Medical Program. Significant opportunities for research, especially in neuro‑psychiatry. Benefits & Compensation Compensation Type: Fee‑for‑Service estimated remuneration $300,000 – $400,000, plus MOCA level 2 Physician Overhead, no overhead cost.
