Our client, a leader in the high-rise construction and development industry, is seeking an experienced Director of Construction to join their dynamic and expanding team. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Construction, this senior-level role is critical in managing a portfolio of high-profile high-rise projects from pre-construction through to completion. The Director will be responsible for ensuring all projects adhere to schedules, budgets, safety protocols, and quality standards, while cultivating strong relationships with the construction team.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Focus

  • Align with and contribute to the company's strategic vision and goals.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for the project portfolio in line with corporate objectives.
  • Champion key performance indicators and serve as an ambassador of the company’s core values.

Client Relations

  • Collaborate with the Development team to provide clear, timely updates on budgets, costs, and project schedules.
  • Act as a key representative in meetings and presentations, maintaining strong client relationships.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage construction teams to ensure projects meet budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of master project schedules and milestones.
  • Guide the full project lifecycle, from approvals to reviews, while continuously assessing and mitigating risks.
  • Drive efforts to improve cost efficiencies, supplier performance, and resolve conflicts effectively.

Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing construction team.
  • Mentor staff, manage performance, and actively contribute to succession planning.
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation.

Safety & Quality

  • Champion a strong safety culture across all projects, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure all construction processes adhere to the company’s quality benchmarks and operational systems.
  • Lead the deployment of continuous improvement strategies to enhance operational excellence.

About You

  • 10+ years of senior project management experience in the construction industry, with a proven track record of success.
  • College diploma or university degree in a related field; PMP certification is a plus.
  • Expertise in construction methods, industry standards, budgeting, scheduling, and safety protocols.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage construction teams effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, particularly in client-facing presentations and negotiations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management tools, and a willingness to adopt new technologies.
