Hamilton, Canada Inference Labs Inc. Full time

Junior MLops Engineer | Inference Labs

Location: Hamilton, ON, Full Time

About Inference Labs:

Inference Labs is more than just a technology company; we're spearheading a new era in Artificial Intelligence. Advocating for decentralized, computationally verified AI systems while utilizing Web3 technology, we aim to challenge the dominance of large tech corporations with our modular, composable AI solutions. Our vision encompasses building infrastructures, protocols, and applications to make AI more accessible, democratizing AI access while promoting frictionless exchange of value secured with Proof of Inference.

Job Description:

As a Junior MLOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between decentralized ecosystems and our research and engineering team. You will be responsible for developing robust pipelines and managing decentralized and cloud infrastructure supporting ML users. This role involves managing and facilitating complex projects across diverse stakeholders, including internal teams, strategic ecosystems, and composable projects, as well as collaborating with other industry partners. The ideal candidate will handle the integration of machine learning within Web3 and cryptographic frameworks, breaking down complex objectives into clear, actionable strategies. This position is pivotal for advancing decentralizing principles in AI, especially through the implementation of Proof-of-Inference.

The successful candidate will have experience with machine learning training and deployment, cloud infrastructure maintenance and deployment (Azure, GCP, AWS), and decentralized technologies. This will be complemented by exceptional organizational skills, strategic insight, and outstanding communication abilities. A solid understanding of artificial intelligence, coupled with a strong curiosity for cryptographic technologies, is essential. The ideal candidate will also have a keen interest in decentralized platforms and a deep understanding of crypto-economic incentives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, analyze and optimize the performance of decentralized systems, focusing on Linux kernel, GPU, and driver configurations for ML and Blockchain environments.
  • Develop and maintain robust machine learning pipelines, ensuring efficient model deployment and monitoring.
  • Create and implement advanced solutions to enhance system performance while maintaining high availability.
  • Deep troubleshooting expertise, resolving issues with open-source software packages to ensure they interoperate effectively within systems.
  • Implement, manage and help develop various dashboards and monitoring tools.
  • Enhance network security and resilience by identifying potential attack vectors and failure points, establishing reproducible testing environments, and developing strategic fixes.
  • Develop and maintain robust automation frameworks and configuration management strategies.
  • Proactively identify emerging opportunities to inform and refine strategic initiatives in MLOps and AI.
  • Mentor and guide research and engineering team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and team improvement.
  • Deepen your expertise in Zero Knowledge and Cryptography, embracing the challenge of working with zkML stacks and pushing the boundaries of privacy and computational integrity in AI and Web3.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally 1-3 years of DevOps experience in a cloud environment (preferably GCP) with expertise in CI/CD processes.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux, Python, shell scripting, and automation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to owning and resolving issues.
  • A keen sense of quality and reliability, coupled with an innate curiosity to continuously learn and explore new technologies.

Lacking some experience in the listed responsibilities? No worries. At Inference Labs, we're on the hunt for a diverse array of individuals to join our team. If you're enthusiastic about thriving in our dynamic, remote-friendly, and start-up ambiance—and believe you have the chops for this gig despite not ticking every box—throw your hat in the ring. Let us know about the transferable skills you bring to the table in your cover letter. Our conception of the ideal candidate is strong, but we're open to being swayed. Show us what you've got
