Accountant Positions Available: Junior, Intermediate, and Senior

Junior Accountant

McKeil Marine is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our finance team on a full-time permanent basis out of our Burlington location. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to kickstart their career in accounting within a dynamic and fast-paced marine transportation company. The successful candidate will assist in various accounting tasks and gain valuable experience in financial reporting, analysis, and general accounting processes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing financial statements and reports.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Provide support during audits.
  • Collaborate with Finance and other departments to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing documentation and support as required.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Key Competencies Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., MS Dynamics Business Central).
  • Familiarity working with MS Power Platform suite of products in addition to generative AI products beyond CoPilot.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.


Intermediate Accountant

McKeil Marine is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intermediate Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in various aspects of financial reporting, analysis, and general accounting tasks. This position offers an exciting and challenging opportunity for growth and professional development within a dynamic and fast-paced marine transportation company.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • All responsibilities of a Junior Accountant.
  • Assist with preparation of financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting.
  • Preparation of customer invoicing.
  • Assist with daily treasury and cash flow forecasting.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as assigned by management.
  • Assist with preparation of HST/QST and other compliance, tax and corporate filings. uired.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Key Competencies Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • CPA certification is a plus.


Senior Accountant

McKeil Marine is seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Accountant to bolster our finance team. We need someone with a keen eye for detail and a passion for excellence. As a Senior Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in overseeing financial reporting, analysis, and accounting functions. This position promises an invigorating challenge and ample opportunities for personal and professional advancement within our dynamic and fast-paced marine transportation company.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • All responsibilities of an Intermediate Accountant.
  • Assist with leading and managing the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Assist with information monthly, quarterly, and annual information filings.
  • Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP (ASPE) and company policies.
  • Perform variance analysis and financial modeling.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with external auditors and manage audit processes.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Key Competencies Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Extensive experience with ERP systems and financial reporting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • CPA certification required.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
