Job TitleManager, Corporate Actuarial (FCIA), Actuarial Analytics & InsightsJob DescriptionThe Actuarial Analytics & Insights, S&R team forms part of the Corporate Actuarial (CA) function within Divisional Business Services (DBS) and is responsible for the Savings and Retirement (S&R) business. The S&R Line of Business delivers funded and non-funded reinsurance solutions to global insurance clients, catering for the increasing demand from clients in various jurisdictions for innovative reinsurance support that can transfer both longevity and asset risk.
The team are responsible for performing analysis and communicating insights in relation to both the in-force book and new business. This includes working across US GAAP, US Statutory (US STAT), Internal Economic Capital (EC) and Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) reporting bases, as well as any applicable local reporting bases. The team’s focus is on developing a deep understanding of both the asset and liability side of the balance sheets, delivering value-add outcomes that support S&R and wider PL Re’s strategic priorities.
The team will interact closely with S&R and will be a key part of DBS and PL Re, interacting with CA (including the Valuation team and Actuarial Systems Team), Operations, Finance, R&D, and Pricing.
The RoleBased in Bermuda, we have an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong actuarial background and relevant experience to join the Corporate Actuarial function as a Manager, focusing on BMA requirements for the Savings & Retirement (S&R) business.
Reporting to the AVP, Actuarial Analytics & Insights, S&R, this role offers a challenging variety of work, exposure to senior management and excellent opportunities to make positive contributions to S&R and CA. The role requires a good understanding of the Bermuda regulatory frameworks, particularly in respect of the Scenario-Based Approach (SBA) and Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement (BSCR), as the successful individual will play a key role in overseeing BMA requirements from an S&R perspective. This role would be responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance with the BMA regulations and work closely with the rest of the reporting team to ensure regulatory reporting is submitted in an accurate and timely fashion. This role would also be responsible for overseeing ongoing SBA applications which will require strong technical understanding and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex topics to a wide range of audiences.
As part of this role, you will work with other functions within DBS and work with other Corporate Actuarial teams across Pacific Life. Similarly, you will work closely with the S&R Line of Business team, contributing to PL Re’s success in what is a growing and dynamic marketplace. It is also expected that you will have a strong presence in Bermuda, creating a network that allows you to keep abreast of industry and regulatory updates.
Role ResponsibilitiesOversee BMA requirements impacting the S&R line of business, including regulatory reporting, supervisory expectations, and emerging regulatory developments.
Lead and coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of BMA applications, including SBA applications, and other regulatory approvals as required.
Monitor and interpret changes to BMA rules, guidance, consultation papers, and industry developments, assessing impacts on the S&R business and driving implementation of necessary changes.
Coordinate responses to BMA requests, regulatory inquiries, thematic reviews, and information requests, ensuring submissions are accurate, comprehensive, and delivered on schedule.
Provide subject matter expertise on Bermuda regulatory requirements, including capital, solvency, reporting, governance, and risk management expectations applicable to the S&R business.
Support the assessment and implementation of new products, reinsurance structures, longevity transactions, derivative strategies, and other initiatives from a Bermuda regulatory perspective.
Prepare management updates and briefing materials for senior leadership on regulatory developments, key risks, approval requirements, and strategic implications for the business.
Build relationships with stakeholders in S&R and wider DBS, keeping S&R Corporate Actuarial aware of relevant updates.
Support non-BAU activities and other corporate actuarial projects, as required.
Act as the S&R regulatory \"eyes and ears\" in Bermuda, proactively identifying regulatory trends, emerging issues, and industry developments that may impact business strategy, capital management, product design, or reporting requirements.
Lead and mentor team members, fostering technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and a strong control environment within the reporting function.
