Agilus is recruiting for a
Gas Detection Technician
in the
Oil and Gas Sector
in
Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Maintain and service Approx. 550 NIOSH/NFPA SCBA and RSBA packs and all associated equipment IE: washing masks, disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble regulators, replace air cylinders, recharge air cylinders, inspect and roll breathing air hose

A typical day:

  • Manage the loan out process of breathing air equipment
  • Complete the annual regulatory change out of all SCBA/RSBA packs utilized in the upgrader
  • Facilitate the shipping of breathing air cylinders due for hydro testing and update tracking sheets
  • Manage the inventory of the fire extinguishers required for annual regulatory change outs across Base Mine and Aurora site
  • Maintain and service leased gas detectors and docking stations located across Base mine and Aurora site
  • Provide turnaround support by setting up and verifying settings are correct for rental gas detection equipment in 4-6 permit locations with a combined total of 4-500 pieces of equipment
  • Complete change outs and placements of temporary area gas detectors throughout the upgrader as part of the loan out process

Successful candidates will have:

  • Technical knowledge of gas detection instruments and calibration procedures
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in industries such as oil & gas, chemical processing, or manufacturing
  • Certifications such as SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) servicing, confined space entry, or H2S Alive may be required depending on the employer
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
