JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering, the Production Planner coordinates and adjusts plans to meet needs and unforeseen circumstances, while ensuring proactive communication with teams. He organizes planning meetings, provides delivery dates, produces reports and, above all, proposes and implements improvements to optimize processes and ensure the accuracy of plans. This role requires initiative and the ability to turn ideas into concrete actions.
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS
- Plan and monitor daily and weekly production based on orders, sales, and factory capacity.
- Ensure that the production schedule meets established targets.
- Schedule and launch work orders, ensuring that they are regularly updated.
- Monitor stock levels, in collaboration with the purchasing team, to ensure optimal availability of materials and avoid production stoppages.
- Adjust the plan, schedules and resources based on unforeseen events and inform the relevant people of any changes.
- Communicate with production, purchasing, sales, and logistics to ensure alignment with business priorities.
- Organize and participate in daily and weekly production planning meetings.
- Provide order delivery dates to customer service.
- Responsible for implementing improvements to optimize efficiency, reduce costs and minimize production interruptions.
- Produce reports on production progress and deviations from forecasts and any other information relevant to management, in order to facilitate decision-making.
- Perform any other related duties as determined by his/her supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS, QUALITIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Education: College Diploma (DEC) in Operations and Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in production planning in a manufacturing company.
- Spoken and written languages: French and English.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work in a cooperative and consultative mode, actively involving the engineering and maintenance teams in discussions and decisions.
- Results Focused: Results-oriented with a strong ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Organizational and decision-making skills: Organized, flexible, autonomous, proactive, resourceful, able to make decisions and manage stress effectively.
- Computer knowledge: Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, CMMS, ERP, or other similar systems.
- Ability to read industrial drawings.
- Knowledge of Epicor ERP (an asset).
