Classification Summary - Union
The Transit Infrastructure Coordinator leads planning and delivery of transit infrastructure including integration with the City and region's transportation systems and coordinates, oversees, and supports initiatives to manage and maintain transit assets to improve the service and expand transit system utilization.
Duties - Union
- Develops and supports strategies and implements infrastructure plans and initiatives for continuous improvement of the transit system's physical assets and technological systems.
- Monitors infrastructure quality and condition and coordinates maintenance activities in association with Operations personal.
- Monitors and responds to transit infrastructure related public safety and security, vandalism/damage incidents and protocols.
- Provides and coordinates input into transit route operational design and network planning relating to infrastructure requirements and integration.
- Oversees the asset management of all existing and future transit infrastructure including but not limited to maintaining asset inventories, creation and maintenance of asset management plans, capital plans and associated projects.
- Utilizes technological tools such as asset management software, bus monitoring systems, passenger counter systems, CCTV, and others to plan and enhance infrastructure in support of efficient, effective, and safe operation of the transit system and ridership growth.
- Liaises with BC (British Columbia) Transit and the Operator on issues related to transit operations at transit facilities, customer service, traffic management, safety, and security.
- Liaises with BC Transit, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Provincial and Federal Governments in the development and application of transit design standards, infrastructure project partnerships and grant opportunities.
- Provides input, research and support to other departments and external stakeholders on transit infrastructure and integration of the transit system's physical assets with the broader community transportation system and land uses.
- Reviews and coordinates transit infrastructure matters related to City and the region's plans, actions, and initiatives.
- Oversees and coordinates consultants, contractors, co-op students and city staff on transit infrastructure projects.
