Job Description
The Lead Hand supports the Dock Supervisor by overseeing daily shipping, receiving, and inventory tasks while ensuring adherence to safety and food handling protocols. Organizes work areas, enforces FIFO practices, and prepares the loading dock for efficient operations. Monitors equipment use, conducts daily pre-trip inspections, and escalates maintenance needs. Ensures only certified operators use power equipment and that WorkSafe PPE standards are followed. Leads order picking by shift, ensures documentation accuracy, and maintains clean, hazard-free workspaces. Trains and guides team members, reinforces Collective Agreement compliance, and supports operational flow through communication, accountability, and consistent performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Loading containers
- Picking orders from an invoice and building pallets
- Scanning inventory in and out
- General warehouse duties of order packing and receiving
- Be available for occasional driver-helper (swapper) duties, depending on business needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Schedule:
- Monday to Saturday (will have one day off): 5am to 1:30pm
Working Conditions
- Full-time, Permanent
- Breaks: 2 x 30-minute breaks, per the current CBA.
- Overtime available and due to business needs.
- Availability to work on weekends and shift work, pending operational requirements.
Rate of Pay: $ premium
