Richmond, British Columbia, Canada J-link Transportation Ltd Full time

Overview

JLink Transportation is a Vancouver-based logistics group offering Canada-wide trucking (LTL/FTL), international forwarding (FCL/LCL & air), multimodal solutions, and CBSA Sufferance Warehouse services (container exams, trans-loading, bonded moves).

We're hiring a hands-on, results-driven Warehouse Manager to lead day-to-day warehouse operations and outbound shipping. You'll partner closely with the Logistics Manager to align freight releases, staffing, equipment, and carrier appointments so freight moves safely, accurately, and on time. The ideal leader brings clarity, urgency, and structure to a high-velocity environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own daily warehouse operations: receiving, put-away, inventory control, picking/packing, staging, loading, and shipping.
  • Operate forklifts and other MHE as needed to support dock flow and service levels.
  • Align plans with the Logistics Manager on release timing, routing, dispatch windows, and carrier pickups.
  • Build short-/long-term capacity plans (staffing, shifts, equipment, rack/slotting) to meet volume swings.
  • Review manifests/BOLs, load plans, trailer metrics, and exceptions daily; resolve issues fast.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks (space, labor, equipment, carrier capacity) and act proactively.
  • Champion a strong safety culture: PPE, JHSC participation, incident reporting, root-cause CAPA.
  • Enforce pre-shift equipment checks, battery/propane handling, and safe operating procedures for forklifts/clamp/reach trucks.
  • Lead supervisors/leads and frontline associates; coach, cross-train, and hold teams accountable.
  • Partner with Customer Service/Dispatch to meet SLAs; handle escalations at the dock.
  • Manage operating budget (labor, MHE maintenance, supplies); drive CI/lean/5S and SOP standardization.
  • Use WMS/TMS and dashboards to track KPIs (productivity, accuracy, damages, OTD, dock turn times).

Experience

  • 3+ years in warehouse/terminal operations with increasing leadership scope.
  • Proven experience running outbound shipping in an LTL/cross-dock or fast-paced distribution environment.
  • Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days); hands-on experience with sit-down/stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, and clamp trucks.
  • Strong people leadership: coaching, delegation, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Solid command of WMS/TMS, dock scheduling, and Excel/Google Sheets (lookups, pivots).
  • Safety-first mindset; hands-on presence on the floor; high resilience and execution speed.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and work in a standing/warehouse environment.
