Human Resources Officer- Term Position
(Location: Peguis First Nation, On-Reserve)
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Peguis Senior Centre is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable HR Officer to support key Human Resources functions across the organization. This role is responsible for employee relations, recruitment, performance management, training coordination, policy development, and ensuring compliance with Manitoba Employment Standards and the Canada Labor Code.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as the primary contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and workplace issues while promoting a respectful
and inclusive work environment;
• Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, resume screening, interviews, reference checks, and
supporting selection decisions;
• Develop and deliver structured orientation and onboarding processes to ensure smooth integration of new hires;
• Assist supervisors with employee performance evaluations, documentation, and performance improvement plans;
• Identify training needs and coordinate employee training programs and development plans;
• Support the implementation of employee retention strategies and monitor turnover trends;
• Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures to align with legislation and organizational needs;
• Ensure compliance with Manitoba Employment Standards and the Canada Labor Code, along with other
relevant HR regulations;
• Contribute to organizational development initiatives that strengthen workplace culture;
• Monitor attendance, track leaves, and maintain accurate HR documentation;
• Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of progressive HR experience.
• CPHR designation or eligibility to obtain is an asset.
• Must have a valid Class 5F Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Proficiency with HRIS systems and MS Office Suite.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug test.
