The Broadway Subway Project Corporation (BSPC) is an Acciona-Ghella general partnership to deliver a 5.7 km extension of the Millennium Line, from VCC-Clark Station to Broadway and Arbutus. Once complete, it will provide fast, frequent, and convenient service to B.C.'s second largest jobs center, world-class health services, an emerging innovation and research hub, and growing residential communities.
The Traffic Coordinator will play a key role in bringing our Master Traffic Management Plan—and all its sub-plans—to life. You'll take on hands-on traffic engineering tasks, work closely with our in-house team, and collaborate with senior traffic leadership and subcontractor partners to keep operations running safely and smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Prepare technical reports and presentations.
- Ensure traffic safety in surrounding areas.
- Oversee and support various stages of traffic implementation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including provincial authorities, to obtain approval for traffic plan modifications.
- Ensure all traffic management documentation complies with the Project Agreement.
- Plan, manage, and coordinate traffic plans.
- Coordinate the preparation of design drawings and tender documents.
- Work with construction teams on activities requiring traffic staging and traffic control plans.
- Review construction requirements and constraints to develop appropriate traffic staging plans.
- Coordinate with traffic design consultants on temporary traffic staging and traffic control plans.
- Manage traffic designers/coordinators in preparing temporary traffic staging and traffic control plans.
- Prepare temporary traffic staging and traffic control plans based on construction needs.
- Coordinate upcoming work notifications with the communications department.
- Address site issues, deficiencies, and operational challenges.
- Respond to inquiries from the Province, Municipalities, transit providers, and other stakeholders regarding traffic management.
- Present design issues and solutions to the Province, Municipalities, transit providers, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in on-site traffic staging and traffic control implementation during daytime or nighttime operations.
- Design, analyze, and simulate vehicle turning paths and maneuvers, where applicable.
- Liaise with the Province, Municipalities, transit providers, and other stakeholders as required.
- Monitor queue lengths on active sites and implement measures to maintain safe and efficient transit and roadway operations.
- Identify and report operational performance issues to the Traffic Manager and Transportation Management Committee.
- Assist senior traffic superintendents in preparing purchase orders, needs requests, and ordering traffic control personnel and equipment.
- Support senior traffic superintendents in coordination with the procurement department.
- Assist senior traffic superintendents with scanning Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs) and maintaining required documentation.

Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Traffic Coordinator on complex projects, preferably with an engineering background.
- Demonstrated independence and accountability on construction projects, specifically those involving traffic management.
- Ability to design traffic control plans based on project scope and construction requirements.
- Knowledge of the BC MoTI Traffic Management Manual for Work on Roadways.
- Knowledge of BC MoTI civil engineering design standards (asset).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoTurn, and other traffic management design software.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and client-service orientation, with the ability to work effectively with management.
- Familiarity with reporting requirements and adherence to directives.
- Self-motivated, innovative, and committed, with a high degree of integrity and honesty.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to understand broader project objectives.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
