Acuren is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator to support operations for Atlantic Canada while being based out of our Edmonton, AB 18th St office. This position is responsible for developing purchasing strategies, working with suppliers, and procuring inventory, materials, office supplies, and capital goods. The Purchasing Coordinator will develop and investigate supply sources and issue requests for quotations, proposals, or bids for those items not covered by any existing purchasing arrangement. This position supports the organization at a regional level.

  • This is an in-office role in Edmonton, Alberta (18th St)
  • Hours for training during the first two weeks will be Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm and then the shift will change to Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm to support the Atlantic region.

Responsibilities
Oversee purchasing process

  • Administer all aspects of the purchasing process, including ordering, purchasing, supplier management, shipping, and inventory.
  • Purchase materials and equipment, develop vendor agreements, and establish relationships.
  • Negotiate policies and contracts with various suppliers.
  • Maintain appropriate filing systems for all documents, records, and reports.
  • Maintain pricing policies.
  • Enter quotes in the PO request system.
  • Issue PO's to vendors and suppliers.

Inventory management

  • Monitor and report inventory levels, stock obsolescence, and inventory variances.
  • Verify purchase requisitions.
  • Identify damaged or defective goods and work out an alternative solution with the supplier.
  • Keep detailed records and prepare and submit necessary reports.
  • Logging consumable usage.

Vendor and supplier relationship building

  • Develop and maintain a database of suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Monitor supplier performance.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure satisfaction while optimizing quality, time usage and costs to the organization.
  • Other work duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain management or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in purchasing or procurement role.
  • Knowledge of procurement and inventory terminology and processes.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Additional computer-based training would be an asset.
