Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst with a strong background in accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, to join our finance team. This role combines analytical responsibilities with operational finance functions, including managing vendor accounts, processing invoices, preparing reports, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, a strong understanding of accounting processes, and the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
· **Financial Analysis & Reporting**
· Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making.
· Monitor company performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and trends.
· Conduct cost analysis and profitability reviews for products, projects, and programs.
· Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and applicable regulations.
· Review, code, and process vendor invoices and employee expense reports in accordance with company policy.
· Ensure weekly payment runs are approved and processed on time, managing cash flow targets effectively.
· Reconcile corporate credit card statements, verifying accuracy of charges and supporting documentation.
· Confirm that all invoices and expenses have appropriate approvals and correct general ledger coding.
· Address and resolve payment inquiries from vendors and internal departments.
· Monitor accounts to ensure timely payments and follow up on outstanding invoices or disputes.
· Maintain accurate AP records in compliance with audit and retention requirements.
· Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes by reconciling AP sub-ledgers and preparing reports.
· Identify opportunities for process improvements and support automation initiatives to increase efficiency.
· Ensure compliance with tax regulations (HST/GST) in the processing of invoices.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
· Minimum 3 years of combined experience in financial analysis and accounts payable functions.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with vendors and internal teams.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
