Position Overview

Alcan Freight Ltd is seeking an experienced Trucking Dispatcher to join our fast-paced logistics team. In this role, you'll manage the coordination of freight transportation, optimize routing, and maintain top-tier customer service throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

• Load Planning: Utilize DAT, Loadlink, and other platforms to plan and assign loads efficiently while maximizing fleet productivity.
• Driver Coordination: Assign routes to drivers based on hours of service, availability, and customer delivery windows.
• Communication: Maintain consistent contact with drivers to share updates, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with safety and legal standards.
• Customer Service: Provide clients with shipment updates, address concerns promptly, and ensure a smooth delivery experience.
• Problem Solving: Anticipate and resolve logistical challenges such as delays, mechanical problems, or route changes.
• Documentation: Accurately record dispatch details, load confirmations, and trip data for operational transparency.
• Compliance: Monitor adherence to transportation and safety regulations, including hours of service and weight restrictions.
• Route Optimization: Continuously refine routing to reduce idle time, lower fuel use, and improve delivery timelines.
• Crisis Management: Respond promptly to breakdowns or emergencies, ensuring driver and cargo safety.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Trucking Dispatcher within a logistics or transportation company.
• Proficient in using Loadlink, DAT, and other dispatch or routing software.
• Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational abilities.
• Skilled in problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
• In-depth understanding of transportation laws and compliance standards.
• Familiarity with North American geography and major freight corridors.
• High attention to detail with excellent time management.
• Flexible availability, including occasional evenings or weekends.
• High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education is an asset).
