Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Backhoe Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment, including backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and other machinery essential for construction projects. This role requires mechanical knowledge and the ability to perform tasks safely and efficiently on various job sites. Candidates with experience in horizontal drilling, paving, and commercial driving are highly preferred. The Backhoe Operator will play a vital role in ensuring project success through precise operation and adherence to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate backhoes and other heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and horizontal drilling machinery
- Perform site preparation, excavation, grading, and paving tasks as required for construction projects
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Assist with material handling and loading/unloading supplies using heavy machinery
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance activities
Skills
- Proven experience operating backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and other heavy construction equipment
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic repairs
- Ability to operate Caterpillar machinery and other heavy equipment brands effectively
- Skills in horizontal drilling, paving, and general construction practices are a plus
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred for transporting equipment or materials between sites
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Physical stamina and coordination necessary for operating heavy machinery over long periods
