Job Summary:
We are a local fast growing, customer focused, citywide courier company with our main office located in the St. James area. Our company offers services delivering anything from an envelope to full size truck loads. We pride ourselves on providing reliable same day and next day delivery services for all of our customers.
We are seeking a dedicated, detail oriented, and organized dispatcher with good knowledge of the city and its surrounding areas to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring customer satisfaction by providing exceptional support and assistance in the freight and transportation management sectors. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, knowledge of routes, and the ability to navigate various software systems effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Process incoming delivery requests and assign them to appropriate courier drivers based on factors like location, urgency, and courier availability.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding shipping, receiving, and freight services in a timely and professional manner.
- Act as a central point of contact for courier drivers, providing them with clear instructions, addressing any questions or issues that arise during deliveries, and providing real-time support.
- Coordinate and optimize the delivery of packages or documents, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Manage communication between drivers, customers, and the operations team, resolving any logistical issues that arise.
- Utilize a Transportation Management System to manage customer orders, dispatch calls, and track shipments and drivers.
- Process data entry tasks accurately for customer interactions and transactions.
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette while handling customer and driver calls and resolving issues.
- Maintain a positive relationship with customers by addressing their needs efficiently.
- Answering and directing phone calls and emails.
- Filing, scanning and organizing physical and digital documents; performing data entry and maintaining spreadsheets.
- Supporting with administrative tasks.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a customer service role
- Willingness to learn and be trained to meet business needs
- Excellent communication and phone etiquette skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing situations is crucial.
- The ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail are essential
- Previous experience or knowledge as a dispatcher or driver in the transportation industry is highly desirable
- Familiarity with any Transportation Management Systems is highly desirable.
- Understanding of local geography and traffic patterns, remain updated on road closures
- Knowledge of basic computer programs and aptitude to learn new software systems
