ResponsibilitiesThe Program Coordinator (Faculty Research, Communications & Events) plays a crucial role in supporting the school's research strategy and the Associate Dean, Research (ADR) by delivering exceptional services related to the promotion and dissemination of research. The coordinator is responsible for overseeing research events (e.g. Ivey Research Series, "What Are We Up To?"), maintaining the research website and social media channel(s), and both internal and external communication initiatives including events and written communications, aimed at promoting knowledge mobilization and disseminating the work of Ivey's researchers. The Coordinator also serves as a key liaison for postdoctoral employees within the research department, overseeing all their HR-related functions and responsibilities.
QualificationsEducation:
- 3 year University degree
Experience:
- 4 years of experience providing administrative support and project coordination
- 2 years providing professional customer service in a fast-paced environment
- 2 years' experience coordinating the logistics of specialist programs, services and events
- Previous administrative and project coordination experience in an educational institution is preferred
- Previous experience working in communications utilizing various channels (e.g. web, social media) would be an asset

- Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
- Written communication skills to effectively and efficiently communicate research findings to both academic and lay audiences
- Presentation and public speaking skills
- Demonstrated ability take initiative, to work independently and follow through on work assignments
- Ability to apply active listening to hear and understand the complete message being communicated
- Ability to ensure expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications when required
- Competency to maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive information with discretion

- Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
- Ability to process information with a high degree of accuracy, and follow formal business practices with high attention to detail

- Adapt readily and effectively to changing priorities and demands
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, faculty members, students and the public
- Ability to make appropriate decisions and resolve issues by identifying the critical elements of a problem situation and considering each aspect
- Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Intermediate proficiency required in Microsoft Office in order to prepare emails, communications content, announcements, and to input data into spreadsheets and databases
- Familiarity with Western policies and guidelines preferred
